Urmar Bala Peshawar

One day Out-reach patients’ camp was organized on February 11, 2019, by the ARPD physical therapy team in Urmar Bala Peshawar.

ARPD provided spot treatment to 121 patients indiscriminately by means of free physical therapy Camp. Cerebral palsy was the most detected disability in the area. Home treatment plans were advised for their pathologies, while patients with major disabilities were referred to Rehabilitation center Peshawar, whereas the other patients were treated at camp.

The major issues we witnessed there were un-affordability of hospital and transportation costs, negligence of the elders, the absence of escorting and poor awareness in the community.

Tehsil Wari Upper Dir

One day Out-reach patients’ camp was conducted on September 14, 2019, by the ARPD physical therapy and speech therapy teams in Tehsil Headquarter Hospital, Wari Upper Dir. Initiative for the camp was taken by the request of the people of Dir.

About 226 physically disabled patients, 35 patients with speech and psychological problem have availed the free treatment indiscriminately provided by ARPD through free physical therapy Camp. Cerebral palsy and Muscular Dystrophy were the most detected diseases in the area. Home treatment plans were advised to patients, while some patients were referred to RCPD Peshawar for treatment.

Assistant Commissioner Tehsil Wari Mr. Israr Ahmad visited ARPD free camp. He was satisfied and impressed by the ARPD outreach program. He also assured his full support to ARPD for future Outreach camps and awareness programs in Upper Dir.

Mirpur (Azad Jammu & Kashmir) Camp

Over 100 patients were examined in a free medical camp for Physically Disabled Patients held in the Earthquake affected areas, Pindi Subherwal, Khari Sharif, Jaatlan, Morra Keikri, Saang and Pull Munda of District Mirpur (Azad Jammu & Kashmir) at Rural Health Center on Sunday, December 15, 2019.

The camp was jointly organized by the Association for Rehabilitation of the Physically Disabled (ARPD) and Helping Hearts, Caring Souls (HHCS) in collaboration with the Health Department of District Mirpur Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The main objective of the camp was to provide free medical check-ups and medicines to earthquake-affected patients. Different laboratory tests and X-rays were conducted and free medicines were provided to the patients.

ARPD President Anjum Anwar visited the earthquake-affected areas of Pindi Subherwal where she met with the affectees and inquired their problems.

The medical camps prove to be a potential tool in increasing the community’s mobilization, health awareness and confidence in the community’s efforts towards supporting a better health delivery system. ARPD and HHCS on their part will continue to serve in the health-care facility for the needy and poverty-stricken people with physical disabilities said, Anjum Anwar.

Mingora Swat

At least 198 patients have been examined in free Disability camp organized at Jalil International Hospital in Mingora Swat to facilitate and provide free Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, and Psychotherapy.

It was organized by the Association for Rehabilitation of the Physically Disabled Peshawar in the collaboration with Jalil International Hospital.

Talking to local journalists, ARPD President Ms. Anjum Anwar said that around 250 patients including children, female, and male were examined and were given free medicines. She added that many of them were referred to RCPD Peshawar for further treatment.

The President said prevention is the better option as it costs nothing. Moreover; said the free disability camp is part of the efforts of ARPD to provide quality healthcare facilities to the physically Disabled people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at their doorsteps. She also thanked Jalil International Hospital for hosting free disability camp.

District Nowshera- Union council Bara Banda

One day Out-reach patients’ camp was arranged by the ARPD physical therapy and speech therapy team in Union Council Bara Banda, District Nowshera. Initiative for the camp was taken on the invitation of District Members of the area.

 

More than 109 patients were examined at the camp. Cerebral palsy was the most detected disability of the area. Moreover, Patients with osteoarthritis, juvenile arthritis, disc herniation, adhesive capsulitis, muscular dystrophy and fractures benefited from the service provided by the ARPD team.

District Nowshera- Pir Sabaq

One day Out-reach patients’ camp was arranged by the ARPD physical therapy team in Pir Sabaq, District Nowshera. Initiative for the camp was taken on the invitation of Local community.

More than 108 patients were examined at the camp. Cerebral palsy was the most detected disease of the area. Moreover, Patients with disc herniation, adhesive capsulitis, muscular dystrophy and fractures benefited from the camp.

District Mardan

One day Out-reach patients’ camp was arranged by the ARPD physical therapy and speech therapy team in Union Council Gujarat, District Mardan. Initiative for the camp was taken on the invitation of District Members of the area.

More than 98 patients were examined at the camp. Patients with speech pathologies were also facilitated by the speech therapy team. Expressive language pathologies were common among them.

Cantt Hospital- Nowshera

One day Out-reach patients’ camp was organized by the ARPD Physiotherapy Team in Cantonment Hospital Nowshera. The camp was initiated on the request of Cantonment Hospital Rehab Center, which is one of the National Disability Network (NDN) partners of ARPD, working in District Nowshera for the well-being of Persons with Disabilities.

Total 151 patients were examined at the camp. Most of the patients were diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and stroke. ARPD physiotherapy team advised them home-treatment and gave them medicines. Moreover; some patients were referred to RCPD Peshawar for treatment.

ARPD Medical Camp

Association for Rehabilitation of the Physically Disabled organized a free medical camp at Rehabilitation Center for the Physically Disabled Peshawar with the cooperation of Common Wealth Medical Trust where specialist doctors have examined more than 200 patients.

Chief Orthopedic Surgeon, Medical, Child, Gynecologist, General surgeon, Gastroenterologist and Physical Therapist extended their services during the camp. Blood test, blood pressure, E.C.G and other tests were conducted for the people who came for the medical checkup. People with serious health issues were referred to RCPD and other hospitals for further treatment.

Akbur Pura – Nowshera

One day Out-reach patients’ camp was conducted on March 14, 2019, by the ARPD physical therapy team in Akbarpura, Nowshera. This camp was arranged on the request of the Akbarpura Youth Development Organization.

Team ARPD provided spot treatment to 121 patients with physical disabilities. Cerebral palsy, Muscular Dystrophy and polio were the most detected disabilities in the area. Post-traumatic patients were also evident in camp. Moreover, patients with osteoarthritis and fractures benefited from the service provided by the ARPD team. Patients with major disabilities were referred to the Rehabilitation Center for the Physically Disabled Peshawar, whereas the other patients were treated at camp.
